It’s official! Great news for all GSuite Legacy Free Edition Folks, Google is letting us keep our accounts! The last few months have been an emotional roller coaster, and I think Google owes us some anti stress swag or something because wow was this tough. I am going to make TShirts that say I survived the GSuite Legacy Shutdown and you can all buy them to commemorate the occasion. Google officially announced today that they are allowing us to keep using our GSuite Legacy Free accounts for personal non commercial use, including Gmail and yes, your custom domain. Many of you who followed today’s news as it was breaking already sent in a bunch of questions and we are working to get those answered, but for tonight, we will talk about what we know so far.Here are this week’s updates:

1000 apologies for my audio quality this week. I have been having some issues with my setup and our recording Studio Riverside. They started a couple of weeks ago and have been manifesting as my camera feed cutting out halfway through the video. I have been working daily with their dev team to figure it out, and while we are making progress….. something glitched at the beginning of the episode and my audio source switched from my pro mic to my headphones. I’ll be in the corner crying in shame. Hopefully, we will get this all sorted soon!

I had a great time at the Google Events in LA and Irvine, the LA office is in the old Spruce Goose hanger, the former home to Howard Hughes wooden aircraft that was an engineering marvel, except for the part where it only flew once. It was 6 times larger than any aircraft built at the time in 1947 with a hanger just as large. They literally built a building inside the hanger, incorporating all the style and history, and that is the Google LA Office. I will have to put my photos together in a blog post to show off to all of you so stay tuned there.

Google came out of the gate swinging this week with a whole bunch of announcements. Interestingly, only 4 of them made it on the official Workspace Updates blog, and the rest were through other blog posts and news releases.

Is our audio quieter for you than it was last year? Seems there is an issue on Google Podcasts at least that the audio is showing up quieter than last season, shoutout to Ian North for bringing that to our attention. We are going to work on getting that fixed for everyone.

No updates yet from Google regarding the sunsetting of the G Suite Legacy Free plan, but we are staying on top of it and will let you know as soon as we have something.
